Plenty of credit has been given to Alphadjo Cisse today – and rightly so – for his goal against Juventus, but maybe AC Milan need to thank Ruben Amorim.
When Amorim was hired, there were plenty who turned their noses up at him. His stock wasn’t so high after his time in Manchester and the tactician who excelled with Sporting seemed to have been forgotten.

Now, though, he’s showing his cards again.
Amorim’s track record
As Corriere dello Sport write, via MilanNews, it was Cisse who was pivotal this week. However, he was far from the first this season. Amorim has regularly looked to the bench and gotten results from the players brought into the side.
Heading back to Turin for Matchday 1, it was Adrien Rabiot’s introduction that changed the game. Then, last week at San Siro, it was Alexis Saelemaekers who brought the change for Goncalo Ramos’ goal.
Both were given starts this week after their performances from the bench. So, it’s only right that when Saelemaekers came off in the 60th minute, it would be Cisse to have the impact. Perhaps it’s not the players making the difference, but Amorim himself.

The Portuguese certainly knows the right moment to make the attacking changes – making each of the changes between the 56th and 61st minute.
Unfortunately, it was the defensive change that cost his team three points in their most recent trip to Turin. If he gets that side of the game right, who knows how far he could lead this Rossoneri squad.
