Manchester United came close to signing Louis Page on transfer deadline day, only for negotiations to collapse in the final hours.
A midfield rebuild was completed by Manchester United this summer with the arrivals of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba.
But United were eager to add a young talent to their ranks in the shape of England U19s star Louis Page, who has made a promising breakthrough at Leicester City.
United’s talks for Page collapsed on deadline day because Leicester were demanding a £15m transfer fee, but it seems Ineos are not giving up yet on signing the midfielder.

Man United’s new plan to sign Louis Page
Reports claim United were willing to pay around £10m for Page, but refused to meet Leicester’s asking price of £12m + £3m in add-ons.
However, once the window slammed shut, it was immediately claimed that United could revive Page talks in 2027 and return to the negotiating table.
ESPN are now reporting that United are growing in confidence about their chances of signing Page in the upcoming January transfer window.
United’s intentions were to loan Page back to Leicester for the 2026/27 season, so the club are “relaxed” about their chances of revisiting a deal.
If a January deal does go ahead, United’s plan is to loan Page back to Leicester for the final six months of the 2026/27 season before he arrives at Carrington next summer.

Assessing Louis Page’s start to the season
United remain interested in signing Page, and therefore, club officials will be eager to see how the 18-year-old is performing in League One.
However, it has been a bleak start to the season for Leicester, who currently sit 18th in the league table after five matches played.

United fans pleaded Page to leave after watching Leicester’s 4-0 home defeat to Oxford United last time out.
Individually, his performances have been bright, though. Page picked up an assist against Plymouth and was arguably the best player on the pitch in a 0-0 draw with MK Dons.
