Former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is being targeted for a move by ex-Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey. The 34-year-old currently manages Arabian Falcons of the UAE Second Division and is eyeing a move for Sancho and Raheem Sterling.
Sancho has been a free agent since his contract at Old Trafford in the summer. The winger made a £73million move to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund for couldn't replicate the success in Germany that earned him a move to the Premier League.
A potential move to AS Roma has already been definitively ruled out by the club, according Italian journalist Filippo Biafora (via Sport Witness). That is because the Serie A side were left unimpressed by the attacker when previously in conversation about a loan move while he was at United.
"Honestly, Sancho is perhaps the last name I’d expect if a free agent were to be chosen, which is a scenario that seems to be increasingly distant in general," Biafora said.
"He's a player who was also the subject of extensive internal discussion last year. Given his behaviour during calls with the club and the coach, it's unlikely he'll be considered."
After loan spells with Chelsea and Aston Villa, he now finds himself in the pool of free agents vying for a club. Dubai and the riches of a move to the Middle East could bring him back into competitive football.
The Arabian Falcons are looking to attract further high-profile names, with Sancho on the list of candidates - as revealed by the Mirror last week. talkSPORT report that Sterling is also on their shortlist, should either player be open to a move to the Gulf state.
Shelvey has revealed that a number of prominent free agents have been in touch, particularly now that English clubs have largely wrapped up their recruitment. He told talkSPORT: "There are a couple that have got in touch.
"I don't really deal with that side of it. I am trying to manage the team because I want to get promoted this year. But it is a fantastic opportunity for people if that is what they are looking for at this stage of their career, or if they are struggling to get a club.
"Once the UK window shuts, you are scrambling for clubs, so we put out a call to see if there was anyone who was interested.
"There are no strings attached to it. They can leave and go to bigger clubs whenever they are ready. But we can offer that Dubai lifestyle, and bigger names are coming out here."

Shelvey is backed by former Crystal Palace and Southampton star Jason Puncheon, who serves as director of football.
The club already count former Premier League players Danny Simpson and former United wonderkid Ravel Morrison amongst their ranks.
Back-to-back loan moves have failed to spark a return to form, and he now faces an uncertain future as he searches for a new club.
