David Moyes has admitted one thing he was left thinking after Manchester United and Everton’s 2-2 draw on Sunday, which speaks volumes about Michael Carrick’s side.
Three Premier League games into this season, and Manchester United have conceded six goals, scored seven, and picked up just four points, which is quite frankly not good enough.
United deserved a win against Everton, only to take the foot off the accelerator after going 1-0 up to let the lead slip twice thanks to a pair of world-class finishes.
But there is no excuse, and David Moyes’ admission to Andy Mitten sheds light on that.

David Moyes thought Manchester United could have got a third goal vs Everton
Mitten was on the Talk of the Devils podcast this week, reacting to the game and revealing the conversation he had with Moyes.
“I was speaking to him about the game and he felt that Manchester United may have got a third, but also that he wanted to win that game and felt it was a fair result.
“I think he was proud that he kept reminding me we won at Old Trafford last year. We’re not idiots. We’re not a pushover. and he’d had a really difficult week.”
For Moyes to admit United deserved more says it all. Carrick’s side should have gone ahead and put the game beyond doubt, not scored one and sat back.
United had the chances to win, with Bruno Fernandes hitting the bar at one stage.
It is easy to say the defence isn’t good enough, which it hasn’t been. But United’s goal scoring also hasn’t been up to par either, taking low chance shots far too often, and not creating clear chances.

United are among the poorest shooters in the Premier League
On the eye, United’s attack is really strong with Marcus Rashford shining alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. But in the numbers, it is underwhelming.
Despite United having the most shots in the league with 68 after three games, these shots are among the lowest in quality.
On average, United’s xG per shot is just 0.11, which would be incredibly difficult to score from.
By not having a higher average, it opens up these issues for United with a lack of clear chances always going to back-fire.
Three goals would have beaten Everton, but two also should have been enough. United need to improve at both ends, but the lack of clear chances and shooting from too far out is among the biggest issues.
