Manchester United's Premier League campaign hasn't got off to the start that many fans were hoping for, with Michael Carrick's side only picking up four points in their opening three games, all of which they were seen as favourites beforehand.
The Red Devils have been unable to keep a clean sheet so far this season, and the defensive frailties many fans worried about before a ball had been kicked have seemingly come to fruition.

United monitoring Thiaw
Malick Thiaw signed for Newcastle from AC Milan at the beginning of the 25/26 season and became a key player for the Magpies almost instantly. Despite a somewhat lacklustre season for the Toon Army, due to a 12th-place finish in the Premier League, the 25-year-old stood out for his physical presence and recovery pace.
The defender has become a fan favourite in Tyneside, with fans appreciating his ability offensively as well as defensively in set-piece scenarios, with Thiaw managing to find the back of the net five times in all competitions last season.
According to CaughtOffside, the German international has garnered interest from two clubs after his impressive defensive displays.
The outlet revealed, “Sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside that Liverpool and Man United have been monitoring Thiaw’s performances, although no formal negotiations or direct talks have taken place.”
However, securing Thiaw's signature will certainly prove a challenge for both clubs, after the summer exodus at Newcastle has left their squad bare, they would reportedly demand a fee around £65m-£70m for the centre-back despite his €45m valuation.

Thiaw is a player that suits Manchester United's transfer philosophy to a tee. The 25-year-old still has a lot of football to play, whilst also racking up 204 senior appearances throughout his career already.
WIth it looking likely to be Maguire and Shaw's last season at United, and with Martinez' future in Manchester still unresolved, it is sensible for the higher-ups at the club to be looking for replacements, and avoid another lacklustre transfer window.
Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven have been set up to become the future of the club's backline, but they are still young and need time to develop. Bringing in a character like Thiaw could benefit them massively, as he is a player who has already seen a lot of the game at his age.
However, it does seem unlikely that Newcastle would be willing to give up their best defender anytime soon, as it would cause a rift within both the fanbase and the playing squad.
