September is here, and that means the return of the tedious Ballon d’Or campaigning season.

The nominees for the 2026 Men’s edition are out, and of course there are a host of PSG players in there – ten of the thirty, to be precise:

Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ferran Torres, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, João Neves, Nuno Mendes, Achraf Hakimi, Willian Pacho and Marquinhos are all on the shortlist. Nine of them were on the list last season as the Parisians won their second Champions League in a row.

Missing out is goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, Desire Doue, and poor Warren Zaire-Emery, who can’t seem to get the respect he deserves anywhere.

Fabian Ruiz is the only player to have won the World Cup and Champions League, while others have suggested that Kvaratskhelia should win it, rather than be punished for the fact that Georgia didn’t go to World Cup.

There are many worthy potential winners on that list.

In other news…

PSG’s winless start to the season meant some very poor marks for the majority of the team as they lost to Monaco at the weekend.

As you can see above, the form of Matvey Safonov has been a concern to start the season – he’s just not been at his best, conceding 6 from 9 shots on target.

It’s been a slow start to the season in terms of results, but the situation around summer signing Lucas Digne is much more concerning than that.
