Manchester United have been handed an injury blow with an update on Amad Diallo, while the club's stance on Matthijs de Ligt's fitness has also emerged. United have been forced to deal with some injury concerns throughout the early stages of the season, and that looks set to continue this week.

‌

United are currently preparing for their first Champions League match of the season, where they will face Sabah on Thursday night at Old Trafford.

‌

Michael Carrick and Co. were forced to settle for a point in a dramatic 2-2 draw with Everton on Sunday afternoon, and will be determined to return to winning ways when they take on Sabah this week.

‌

However, Carrick will not have Amad at his disposal for the fixture, with a fresh update emerging on the forward’s fitness.

The Ivory Coast international has been recovering from an injury he picked up during training before the start of the Premier League season, and has yet to play a competitive game for United this season.

The Daily Mail have reported that Amad has yet to return to training for United, and is not expected to be back in action until next month, following the extended international break.

The report does claim, though, that Amad has a chance of being available for United’s clash against Fulham next weekend, but that is thought to still be unlikely at this stage.

There has also been an update on De Ligt’s fitness, with United not rushing the Netherlands international back into the first-team picture.

De Ligt has been recovering from a back injury that has kept him on the sidelines since November last year, but he has been stepping up his fitness in recent weeks.

The centre-back is reported to be back in training with United, but there is yet to be a timeframe on when the Reds will put him back into the matchday squad.

After facing Sabah in the Champions League on Thursday, United will then return to Premier League action this weekend, where they will host Manchester City at Old Trafford in the Manchester derby.
