It seems AC Milan have a new area they want to address in the January mercato, with links to a left-back re-emerging.
Overhauling the full squad would’ve been fantastic in the summer, but it just wasn’t realistic. Milan will go back in for Goncalo Inacio, as reports stated this morning, but he is not the only defender who could arrive after Christmas.

Addressing the flanks
According to German outlet Fussballdaten.de, via Football Italia, the Rossoneri are expected to step up their pursuit of Swedish full-back Daniel Svensson. Named as a potential target in the summer, none of the required steps were taken, but he remains on their watch list.
However, they are not alone in looking at him. Indeed, the Diavolo will be challenged by Juventus domestically, but Manchester United and Arsenal are also looking at the Borussia Dortmund player.

Primarily a left-back, he would presumably be given a straight run at a first-team spot, unlike Diego Moreira. However, his ability to play in central defence would also aid Amorim’s squad.
Dortmund value the defender around the €35-45 million mark, meaning another significant investment would have to be made at wing-back. Given how important the wings have been this season, though, it may be the best place to invest money. An attempt in January is certainly possible.
