Tottenham Hotspur made a string of significant calls throughout the summer transfer window, with reinforcements arriving across the pitch to recover from a disastrous 2025/26 campaign.
Roberto De Zerbi targeted Premier League-proven players, and the club’s hierarchy obliged. 10 fresh faces from fellow Premier League clubs arrived in N17 over the summer. The Spurs boss also made it clear that he wants only fully committed players in his squad, leading to several departures for those wanting a new adventure.
Pape Matar Sarr was one of several players to leave Tottenham. The Senegalese international fell down the midfield pecking order after the big-money buys of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, resulting in him wanting a fresh challenge. He was primed to move to the Turkish Super Lig at one juncture of the transfer window, while Premier League clubs Nottingham Forest and Everton were also keen. However, Juventus moved swiftly to capture the 23-year-old’s signature on deadline day.
Pape Matar Sarr in contention to make Juventus debut
Sarr joined Juventus on an initial one-year loan deal, with the move set to become permanent automatically if he makes appearances in more than half of the Serie A club’s matches. The central midfielder did not feature for Spurs this season as he’s been out with a muscle injury. Fortunately, it wasn’t serious enough to deny him a move to Juventus.
Now, according to Italian outlet Tutto Juve, Sarr could be in contention to make his debut for the Bianconeri at the weekend as the feeling is optimistic about his recovery from muscular injury. Luciano Spalletti’s side are set to travel to Mapei Stadium to face Sassuolo in Serie A on Sunday.
Pape Matar Sarr has joined Juventus on loan for the 2026/27 season.
Good luck, Pape 🤍

Having not enjoyed competitive action for some time now, the Senegal talent will not be thrown into the deep end against Sassuolo by Spalletti. He is likely to be slowly integrated into the squad with minutes off the bench, whilst the midfielder adapts to the demands of Serie A football.
With Manuel Locatelli facing a five-to-six-month absence following surgery on his right knee and Jeremie Boga set to miss around five weeks with a muscle injury, the Tottenham loanee has a fine opportunity to cement his place in Spalletti’s XI with eye-catching appearances. Hopefully, Sarr performs well when he returns from injury and makes Juventus his permanent home in 2027.
