Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Champions League on Tuesday night as they host Azerbaijani side Sabah at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick is set to take charge of his first Champions League match as permanent Manchester United manager when the Red Devils take on Azerbaijani side Sabah on Thursday. However, he must contend with several injury problems concerning United as they prepare for their return to Europe.
Luke Shaw missed training on Wednesday morning and, after United did not sign another left-back in the summer window, his absence would be an issue. Patrick Dorgu, Diogo Dalot or Noussair Mazraoui could switch to that role, but there isn't another specialist left-back in the squad. Shaw was absent from this morning's training session as he is being given a recovery day. He is expected to miss the Sabah match, with the Manchester Derby also scheduled for Sunday.
Discussing the England international, Carrick said: "We just gave him an extra recovery day so we'll see by tomorrow how he is but it's not an ongoing thing or a plan. As normal each individual has different things that we manage."
Potential return date: September 13, vs Manchester City (H).
Mount is yet to make a single appearance for United this season. He showed considerable promise during pre-season when Carrick deployed him in a deeper role.
However, he has been sidelined since sustaining a knock in the pre-season fixture against Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite this, the former Chelsea midfielder has been training alongside the first team and was tipped for an imminent comeback ahead of the draw with Everton. He was named on the bench at Hill Dickinson Stadium but failed to get onto the pitch.
Potential return date: September 10, vs Sabah (H).

The £70m signing has yet to pull on a Manchester United shirt since his move from Brighton. He arrived at the club carrying a minor ankle injury sustained during pre-season and has been unable to take to the pitch since.
Potential return date: Mid/late September.

The United winger has been absent since suffering a muscular injury during pre-season training. There is currently no indication of when the Ivory Coast international will be available for selection again.
Potential return date: Unknown.
Ugarte is highly unlikely to feature for United at all this season, having sustained a knee ligament tear while representing Uruguay at the World Cup.
He is not expected to return to action until late next year.
Potential return date: Summer 2027.
Matthijs de Ligt has endured a torrid time with injuries over the past year. A serious back complaint ruled him out of all appearances under Carrick throughout last season.
He has not featured since last November. Last month, Carrick confirmed he had returned to first-team training, though he has not been pictured alongside his team-mates since then.
When quizzed about De Ligt on Wednesday, Carrick said: "We're still managing him, he's trained well and he's pushing and pushing, but we've got to manage that last stage. He's in a good place and it's great to have him back. Hopefully he will return soon."

Heaton has been sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained during pre-season. Much like Amad, there remains no clarity on when he will be fit to feature again.
