There have been three different ways in which Ineos have strengthened Manchester United’s financial power this summer.

Manchester United did less transfer business than most expected this summer despite the arrival of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba.

It was widely reported that United had a big transfer budget, but it seems that may not have been the case this summer.

Ineos are working towards Project 90 to grow United’s revenue, last reported as £667m in 2024/25. Behind the scenes, they have already added a healthy £60m to that figure.

Three levers pulled to generate £60m at Man United

This week, United announced a new commercial partnership with SumUp worth over £20 million per year.

It is the most lucrative sleeve sponsorship in the club’s history, set to run for multiple years. Despite United’s lack of on-pitch success, the Red Devils remain a commercial powerhouse in the Premier League.

That is backed up by the £20m per season Betway deal signed by United this summer. They have become the club’s new training kit sponsor.

In total, United have added at least £40m per season to the club’s commercial revenue. In the last set of accounts, United’s commercial revenue was £333m, making up around half of the total revenue.

But Ineos have also explored unique ways to add even more money to the pot.

United agreed to film an Amazon Prime documentary around the club’s 2026/27 season, and that is set to earn a minimum of £20m for the club, according to Goal.

£60m boost will help Man United break £750m milestone

In three separate deals, United have provided a major boost to the club’s off-pitch revenue generation.

Under the Premier League’s new SCR rules, generating more revenue will allow United to spend more under the 70% spending cap on transfer fees, wages and player agents.

Given United’s return to the Champions League (which will provide a £100m+ boost), the revenue generated in 2026/27 will undoubtedly be a club record.

Personally, I’m predicting United to break £750m in revenue, which would put them above Manchester City and Liverpool.
