It is no secret that Manchester United wanted to sign Lewis Hall this summer. Their left-back situation has not had any stability for years now. Newcastle United stood firm though and did not let Hall leave for Man Utd this summer. And it makes complete sense, when you look at the circumstances surrounding St James’ Park.
They saw arguably their three very best players leave in the form of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon. And Hall is most probably the best who was left.
So, parting ways with Hall as well would have left the fans even more frustrated. So, not allowing him to leave was very much the right choice. And the Magpies have seemingly gone a step further.
The English left-back, linked with Man Utd all summer long, is believed to have agreed an extension with Newcastle United. And according to the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.com/sport/football/article-16114755/Newcastle-Lewis-Hall-contract-Osula-injury-sponsors.html), Hall’s new contract does not include a release clause.
Obviously, that makes things even tougher for Man Utd, if they are still interested in completing the signing of Hall in the near future.
Newcastle United would surely demand a significant transfer fee to part ways with who most would feel is now the club’s best player at this moment.
One would have expected that all the speculation would have turned Hall’s head and had a negative impact on his performances. On the contrary, he has been excellent to start off the campaign and been the best player on the pitch on more than one occasion already.
If you ask me, Hall should be one of the leaders of this Newcastle United team moving forward. And the new contract shows that the club are committed to sticking with the youngster for the foreseeable future even though they could have pocketed a significant fee by sanctioning his exit.
One would hope that the faith is repaid by the player moving forward. He is a tremendous talent who has the ability to be the best left-back in the Premier League on his day.
Admittedly, it is quite possible that Hall’s future depends on Newcastle United’s performances on the pitch. If they can perform consistently and compete in the top competitions, there is no real reason for him to leave.
