Manchester United take on Sabah in the Champions League this evening where Bryan Mbeumo will be making his first appearance in the competition.
Speaking to the press before the game he reflected on what a big moment it is for him and how the promise of Champions League football was one of the reasons why he joined the club.
Obviously it’s a big step for me, coming from Ligue 2 in France to such a big club here and playing in the Champions League is a massive reward for me and I’m really looking forward to it.
In my head I saw a bit of the team and the players and I knew I could have good connections with the guys here and also I received some message from the players before I came and I was really convinced that we could achieve something good.
During the pre-season, Mbeumo played through the middle in Benjamin Sesko’s absence. Mbeumo has talked about which areas he likes to occupy on the pitch.
Obviously I’ve been used to playing a few positions in the attack. Back even in my first season as a professional, back in the days of Troyes, I was playing right, left, central. So obviously I’ve got some preferences, like I would say key positions on the field, but I can have them either when I play centrally or wide, so it doesn’t really matter. As long as I can play and perform for the team, I’m happy.
