Newcastle United’s home clash against Manchester City on Boxing Day is now scheduled for an 8pm kick-off.
Last year, Toon fans were furious when the trip to Manchester United faced the same treatment. Public transport operates on a skeleton service as December 26 is a designated bank holiday.
Newcastle fans have given a mixed reaction to the news on social media. Some supporters are relishing the prospect of a late Boxing Day clash against one of the Premier League big boys.

Despite an underwhelming campaign in 2025-26, the Magpies earned a 2-1 win over Man City under the lights. St James’ Park will no doubt be at its raucous best as fans can enjoy a full day of getting in the Christmas spirit.
