Spanish forward Ferran Torres launched his continental career with French side Paris Saint-Germain in the best possible fashion, scoring a hat-trick to lead his team to a resounding 6–1 victory over Slovakia’s Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League.
Torres became the first player in the Parisian club’s history to score three goals on his debut in the prestigious European competition.
He also became the first player to score on his continental debut for the team since Neymar and Kylian Mbappé both scored braces against Celtic in September 2017. Furthermore, the Spanish forward equaled a record held by Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimović, becoming only the second player in the club’s history to score at least five goals in his first four matches across all competitions.
Torres, 26, who joined PSG from Barcelona during the summer transfer window on a five-year contract, described his Champions League debut as an “unforgettable dream.” He praised the exceptional atmosphere, the fans’ support, and the warm welcome that helped him settle quickly into the team.
The match also saw the rekindling of the attacking chemistry between Torres and his former Barcelona teammate Ousmane Dembélé. The latter opened the scoring for the Parisian club before providing two assists for Torres in the two halves.
This performance underscored the Spanish forward’s peak form and continued brilliance, following the decisive goal that secured the World Cup title for his country against Argentina last July, as he achieved the highest scoring rate of his career.
