Lewis Hall is set to sign a new contract at Newcastle United amid interest from Manchester United.
Lewis Hall is set to become the latest player to sign a new long-term contract at Newcastle United.
The left-back, who celebrated his 22nd birthday this week, was on Manchester United’s wish list in the summer, but Newcastle made it clear that they would not entertain any offers.
The Magpies sold Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali as planned before granting Bruno Guimaraes his wish to join Arsenal. Crucially, at no point did Hall indicate that he wanted to leave.

Newcastle had no intention of losing Hall, whose performances in recent seasons have made him a key player under Eddie Howe and now Matthias Jaissle. As such, the club have decided to reward him with a new contract.
Will Lewis Hall’s new contract include a release clause?
It’s understood Hall has agreed to extend his stay at St James’ Park until 2031, with his current deal due to expire two years earlier. The Daily Mail reports that there is no release clause.
Hall is the third Newcastle player to sign a new long-term deal in recent months after Lewis Miley and Harvey Barnes.
Speaking about Hall’s importance last week, head coach Jaissle said: “For sure he will also have interest in winter, like many other players, every window there will be interest.
“Definitely we count on him. He's a huge, huge potential player, he's delivering already on a high level, but we all know that there's much more to come, and we're really excited that he is a part of that team, and hopefully also in the long term.”
Newcastle United will only sell on their terms
While Hall committing his future to Newcastle is unlikely to bring an end to the speculation - such is the media landscape these days - the club will be in a strong position should Man United or another team come knocking next summer.
The Magpies have raised approximately £374million from player sales in the last 12 months, starting with Alexander Isak’s £130million move to Liverpool before Gordon (£69m), Tonali (£100m) and Guimaraes (£75m) departed in the summer.
Newcastle sporting director Ross Wilson has admitted that player trading is a necessity with Premier League and UEFA financial rules to consider, but sales will only be sanctioned on their terms.
And as the above shows, the club doesn’t sell players on the cheap.
