Lisandro Martinez’s priceless response to Jamie Carragher question
It was a great night for Martinez. Not only did United keep a clean sheet, but the Argentina centre-back scored his first-ever goal in the Champions League.
Martinez spoke to CBS Sports after the full-time whistle, which meant he addressed a studio featuring Carragher, who has been harshly critical of the United defender in the past.
When Richards asked Martinez who his favourite pundit was on the show, he quickly picked Henry, before the latter posed a follow-up question: “What about us defenders?”
The 28-year-old responded: “I like to watch quality players.”
Richards wasn’t getting the answer he wanted, so he went more direct by asking Martinez if he used to watch Carragher and what he thought of him as a defender.
This prompted a hilariously polite response from Martinez, saying: “As a player? Good person.”
This prompted laughs and applause from the CBS Sports studio and the clip is going viral online.
