Manchester United have struggled to keep out goals this season after opting against reinforcing their backline over the summer. The Red Devils have already conceded six goals in their opening three Premier League games.
The English giants are likely to consider defensive reinforcements in 2027 after concentrating almost entirely on the midfield this summer. A new centre-back could be on the agenda, with Harry Maguire no longer young and Matthijs de Ligt sidelined since last December.
A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person has named Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu as a solution to United’s defensive woes. The Frenchman is coming off a solid 2025/26 campaign, during which he registered two goals and seven assists in 49 appearances.

Kalulu has featured at centre-back as well as right-back for the Bianconeri so far and his versatility makes him a lucrative option for the Red Devils. An update on the situation has now emerged that will delight United fans.
United are Kalulu’s most serious suitors
According to Fussball News, United are showing the most interest in Kalulu. The report states: “According to information from fussball-news.de, Kalulu is being closely monitored by Manchester United in particular.”
“Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the versatile defender. Furthermore, Kalulu has been on Liverpool FC’s radar for some time now.”
“Manchester United are reportedly among the most serious suitors at present. The Red Devils have apparently already sent scouts to Italy on several occasions to watch Kalulu in action and carry out detailed assessments.”
The 26 year old has played every minute of the opening three games for Juventus this season, starting exclusively at right-back.
Juventus set Kalulu price
The report goes on to state that while Juventus are not looking to offload Kalulu, a deal could be possible for €45-50 million. The report continues: “Kalulu’s current market value is estimated at around 32 million euros. However, should any of the interested parties actually push for a transfer, Juventus are likely to demand significantly more.”
“According to information from fussball-news.de, the starting point for negotiations could be around 45 to 50 million euros. In addition, performance-related bonus payments and a share of any future transfer fee could form part of a potential deal.”
The report, however, confirms that Juventus have not received any offer for the Frenchman yet, concluding: “Interest from England is still at the observation stage. As things stand, no official offers have been made.”
“Whether the scouting efforts will lead to concrete negotiations is likely to depend on how Kalulu’s situation at Juventus develops and on the squad plans of the respective Premier League clubs.”
Final Thoughts
While United secured a 4-0 win over Sabah on Thursday in the Champions League, their defensive issues have to be addressed in 2027. Kalulu could also add more competition for Diogo Dalot in the squad, so a move does make sense for the Red Devils.
