Benjamin Sesko starred for Manchester United in their Champions League victory against Sabah FK on Thursday night.
The Slovenian scored for the second game in a row after rounding goalkeeper Stas Pokatilo on the stroke of half-time.
Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez also scored as United sealed a 4-0 win to make a positive start to their European campaign.
Sesko was not part of the club’s pre-season due to a shin injury. He featured him off the bench for the first three Premier League matches against Hull City, Ipswich Town and Everton.
The 23-year-old scored against Everton after coming on as a second-half substitute. His late strike looked set to give United victory, but Ainsley Maitland-Niles equalised in stoppage time.
Will Sesko start against Manchester City?
Sesko started his first game this season on Thursday and delivered an excellent display.
He has made a strong case to be part of the starting XI against Manchester City on Sunday.
Manager Michael Carrick would then need to decide whether Cunha or Marcus Rashford should play on the left wing.
The Brazilian led the attack for the opening three league fixtures. He started on the left against Sabah and scored the opening goal.
Rashford is yet to register a goal or assist this season, but he has troubled defenders with his pace and direct running.
Sesko may start, with Cunha moving across to the left wing and Rashford on the bench.
