Former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher confronted a fan in the Old Trafford car park following the Champions League win over Sabah. The club legend was cheered by those who witnessed the incident.
United came out as comfortable 4-0 winners over their opponents on Thursday night as they kicked off their return to the competition in the perfect way. Goals from Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes, Benjamin Sesko and Lisandro Martinez sealed the three points for Michael Carrick's side.
It was outside Old Trafford following the win where one fan was said to be being abusive towards the players due to them not stopping. But Fletcher called out the supporter.
In footage circulating on social media, the former United midfielder can be heard saying: "Hey, listen, it doesn't matter, you can't speak like that," before pointing at the fan.
Fletcher was met with applause from the United supporters present before the former interim head coach added: "You're the reason people don't sign."
The nearby United fans erupted once again, breaking into a chorus of 'Fletcher, Fletcher, Fletcher' as the coach headed back to his vehicle.
United manager Carrick was full of praise for his side's performance against Sabah, and when asked whether he considered it the perfect return to Champions League football, he replied: "Yeah, I think so. Kind of what we set out to achieve, really.

"I think it was a good performance, individually, collectively, pretty much all the way through the game, from start to finish.
"Boys that started, boys that came on the pitch, clean sheet, some goals and some good, exciting football. It was a good night all round."
Yet there were reasons for worry for the United manager, with captain Fernandes seeming to limp as he departed Old Trafford following the match.
The Portuguese midfielder was spotted on camera leaving the ground alongside United personnel, walking tentatively as he greeted fans before heading home.
Fernandes completed the entire 90 minutes in the Champions League encounter, looking comfortable throughout, indicating any issue is probably minor. United will be hoping that proves accurate with a fixture against arch-rivals Man City on Sunday afternoon.
