The Premier League season is in full swing, which is great news (or bad news, depending on how you’ve started) for FPL managers. It’s been a blistering start to the campaign, with most of the big-hitters up and running on the point-scoring front already.
But with two gameweeks until the extended international break rolls around, managers will be hoping to rack up the points, and put themselves in a strong position. So, ahead of GW4 of the new Premier League season, Express Sport have detailed all of the important injury news that you’ll want to know before picking your team.
Having played a full 90 minutes in mid-week against Sabah FK, United fans would’ve had their heart in their mouths when social media footage emerged of their talisman leaving Old Trafford with a bit of a limp. Manchester City are the visitors this weekend, and the good news is that the problem isn’t believed to be a serious one.
Speaking of United team news, Luke Shaw missed the Thursday night Champions League clash. Michael Carrick was asked about the absence, with the Red Devils boss claiming it was to manage his fitness. Carrick said: "We just gave him an extra recovery day so we'll see by tomorrow how he is, but it's not an ongoing thing or a plan.” Expect him to be back in the fold come Sunday afternoon.
From one English left-back to another. Nico O’Reilly picked up an injury during the warm-up for Saturday’s meeting with Coventry City, and was missing for the mid-week clash in Porto. Enzo Maresca did say he should be back for the weekend derby, but it’s unlikely he’ll go straight back into the starting XI.

One of the unlikely standouts of the FPL season so far, Cody Gakpo might’ve been playing for a different club had things gone an alternative way. He’s on four goal contributions for the season, but missed the Atletico Madrid match on Tuesday with a niggle. Andoni Iraola stressed it wasn’t serious, but the turnaround might be too soon.
One of the FPL cheat codes in the first part of last season, Jurrien Timber has been MIA for most of 2026 so far. Mikel Arteta confirmed he has returned to full training, though, and could be involved as early as this weekend.
And finally, Amar Dedic has impressed since joining Newcastle United in the summer, but the full-back injury curse has struck already. He’s a doubt for the Monday night trip to Leeds United, and could be out until October.
