Lewis Hall attracted interest from Manchester United in the summer but has signed a new contract at Newcastle United.
Lewis Hall believes Manchester United’s summer interest proves he is ‘doing the right things’ at Newcastle United.
The Red Devils enquired about Hall but were told in no uncertain terms that he wasn’t for sale. The 22-year-old has this week put an end to the speculation surrounding his future by signing a new long-term contract at St James’ Park.
Hall, whose family are Newcastle fans, has become a key player in recent seasons, making 106 appearances since joining from Chelsea, initially on loan in 2023, before making the move permanent for £28million.

The left-back has featured in two Champions League campaigns, as well as helping the Magpies end their 56-year trophy by winning the Carabao Cup last year. It has been a big summer of change with the departure of Eddie Howe, Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, but Hall insists the future is bright under new boss Matthias Jaissle.
Lewis Hall on signing his new contract
“It's an amazing feeling, especially being sat here, overlooking the stadium, where I've put so much effort and hard work into the team, into this club,” Hall told NUFCTV.
“To be able to sign a new contract here, I'm absolutely delighted and I'm looking forward to what the future holds.
“The success that we've had over the last few years since I've been here is definitely a factor. I think there are a lot of reasons, one of them being obviously the fanbase and the support we get, whether it's here, whether it's away. In my opinion, it's the best in the league.
“It's just a pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters. I know how much it means to them when we have success, so to be able to bring joy to their faces is obviously a big thing for me.
“I've got a family connection as well, which is obviously incredibly important for me. I truly believe as well with what we've got going on at the minute and how we've started the season with the new gaffer coming in and the new coaching staff, I feel like it's brought some fresh energy as well.
“With what we've got going on now, I think it's a really good thing. I believe we're going to have a really successful season and hopefully we can then push on from there.”

Lewis Hall responds to Manchester United interest
Then asked about the summer speculation, Hall said: “I think as a footballer, you're always going to get speculation. There's always going to be people talking about you, whether that's good, whether that's bad.
“I guess with what I went through in the summer, it was a positive thing in a sense because then you know that you're doing the right things if that's the situation you're in.
“Again, I just focus on every day as it comes. For however long I am a Newcastle player, for me preferably it would be as long as possible really with obviously my family connections and everything like that, but whenever I'm wearing the black and white stripes, I'll always be giving my best in training, in games and everything.
“Like I said, hopefully that can be for a very long time. I truly do love playing here and love playing for this football club.”
