Leny Yoro was linked with a move to Arsenal before he joined Manchester United in 2024, and former Gunners defender Bacary Sagna believes he would have been a success at the Emirates Stadium

Manchester United star Leny Yoro has been tipped to be a potential transfer target for Arsenal in the future. Yoro has been backed to “shine” if he were to swap Old Trafford for the Emirates Stadium next year.
United signed Yoro from Lille in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth £52million, and the 20-year-old centre-back has gone on to make 69 appearances across the last two years.
Yoro was heavily linked with a host of clubs before completing a move to United two years ago, with Real Madrid, Liverpool and Arsenal all mentioned as potential destinations in the past.
Having accumulated two years of Premier League experience, Yoro has been backed to prove a shrewd signing for Arsenal down the line by Sagna, should he move to north London.
“He’s [Sagna] a nice prospect, an amazing player,” Sagna said in an interview with Action Network.
“If he came to Arsenal and Arsenal were shining, he would probably have been shining too.
“So it’s not only about the quality of the player, it’s also about how the team is performing at that time. I think hopefully United as a team will bounce back and Yoro will have a good season because he’s a top player.”
Sagna continued by commending Yoro for adapting to life in the Premier League while featuring in a "sick" team at United.
“He is another top player but he came to a sick team. When he joined, the team was sick,” Sagna added.

“So yes I would love to see him perform well when everyone else is doing well but they started badly.
“You know when the team is not in form, to shine individually is more difficult. It’s not impossible because Bruno Fernandes proved it.
“But if the whole team is struggling and the team is sick, then there’s a higher chance you get sick too and in trouble.
“You’re going to have times over the course of the season where it’s going to be tougher for you because you’re going to get exposed as a defender.”
