One thing Manchester United are working to fix is the culture at the club.
Since the Sir Alex Ferguson days, there have been attempts to find a working environment, but several managers have been unable to build that.
One big factor in making that is correct player recruitment. After a summer where they bought new first-teamers, the Red Devils will hope their squad is up to the task.
Club captain Bruno Fernandes is certainly a player they’ll want to set standards.
Asked by content creator Niko Omilana on the day-to-day business of working at Manchester United, Fernandes has revealed to Sky Sports, “Obviously everyone arrives in different times, someone’s a bit earlier, someone could be later, later in terms of timings, but you have a schedule to be here, limited time, if you’re not you get fined.”
When asked who arrives at the Red Devils’ Carrington training ground earliest, Fernandes answered, “Normally always Diogo [Dalot]. This season also Rashy and Ben [Sesko], are the ones who arrive early – together with me. But normally it depends because obviously sometimes I like to drop my kids at school. So, I get even earlier because they are at school at like 8:20/8:30, so I come here straight away, but normally Diogo is already here.”
Dalot is clearly an avid trainer, and is working on securing that right-back spot down with Noussair Mazrouai as competition.
Fernandes was then asked about the upcoming Manchester derby between United and rivals Manchester City, and whether the team would train any differently for those matches. “No, I think it’s the same.”
“Obviously we know how much it means, we were just talking about the game with Leeds, we know what it means also for the fans, the game against Man City it’s against the neighbours, it’s a club that has grown a lot in the recent years, and has made this rivalry even better for the city so it’s a game that everyone expects to play.”
Fernandes’s attitude is truly tremendous, and he as a player is just as wonderful after winning the PFA Players’ Player of the Season just weeks ago.
He’ll be hoping to put on yet another brilliant performance at Old Trafford on Sunday as his side faces Manchester City.
