JJ Gabriel has given Manchester United supporters another reason to get excited after producing a stunning UEFA Youth League debut for the Under-19s.
The 15-year-old scored three times in United’s 5-0 win over Sabah, becoming the club’s youngest player to score a hat-trick in the competition.
Amir Ibragimov needed little more than a minute to open the scoring, while Jacob Watson soon made it 2-0. JJ Gabriel then took centre stage, scoring before half-time before adding two more late in the game to complete his hat-trick.
His performance has only increased the attention as he is already regarded as one of the brightest talents at Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano hails JJ Gabriel
Fabrizio Romano believes JJ Gabriel is already one of the biggest talking points around United’s academy.
“JJ Gabriel is probably the biggest topic at Manchester United right now when it comes to young talents, and not only now. They have a gem in their hands,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“Imagine, he’s just 15 years old. Soon he will turn 16, and then obviously this is going to be an important moment in deciding his future.”
JJ Gabriel has already trained around the senior team and made his first-team appearance in a friendly against Atletico Madrid. Fabrizio Romano believes Manchester United now face an important decision over how quickly to involve him in senior football.
“It’s going to be important to see how Manchester United manage JJ in terms of involving him in the first team in official games,” he added.
