Ruben Amorim has taken another shot at some of the former Manchester United players who criticised him during his difficult spell at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim was asked about the reaction to AC Milan’s recent 1-1 draw with Juventus and joked that criticism is hardly new territory for him after what he experienced in Manchester.
“Criticism is normal,” Amorim said. “It’s impossible that it’s more than what I received at my previous club!”
The Portuguese coach spent 63 games in charge of Manchester United between November 2024 and January 2026, winning just 24 of those matches before his dismissal.

During his time at Old Trafford, several United legends working in the media regularly gave their opinions on Amorim and his management of the club.
The former United boss appeared to reference that experience when discussing the criticism he now faces in Italy.
“I was in a club in the past with a lot of legends, and they have big opinions, and they talk a lot about things,” he said. “They lived in a time that was completely different.”
Amorim’s comments come after his departure from United, where his tenure ended following the club’s worst-ever Premier League finish.
Paul Scholes was among the former players to question whether Amorim was the right man for the job. The United legend previously said Amorim did not “get the club”, while Amorim responded at the time by suggesting former players did not have all the information behind the scenes.
Now managing AC Milan, Ruben Amorim appears to have little interest in forgetting the scrutiny he faced at United. He still feels the pressure he experienced in Manchester was on another level.
