Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal.
The 19-year-old has emerged as an interesting option for the Premier League club, as per GiveMeSport. The Red Devils are now considering younger midfielders who could develop into important first-team players.
Marc Bernal attracts Man United interest
According to reports, Manchester United are monitoring Bernal’s situation, but they face competition from Chelsea.
The Barcelona midfielder has already made 41 senior appearances despite his young age, showing that he has plenty of experience at the highest level. His physical presence and composure in possession have made him an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their midfield.
Manchester United could see him as someone capable of taking over eventually. However, Barcelona are in a strong position to keep their highly rated youngster.
Bernal recently signed a contract extension with the Catalan giants that runs until 2029, and his agreement reportedly contains a €500 million release clause.

Bernal could be ideal for Man United or Chelsea
Chelsea certainly need to think about their midfield options following Fernandez’s departure.
The Argentine was an important player for the club, particularly in ball progression and controlling possession. Bernal could eventually offer similar qualities while also providing greater physicality in the middle of the pitch.
Manchester United are also monitoring the teenager, although their need for another midfielder may not be as pressing after their summer additions.
His long-term contract and huge release clause mean the two clubs would likely need to make a significant financial commitment to bring him to England.
