Manchester United are progressing through the early stages of their season with every player aiming to get off to a good start.
Michael Carrick’s side have won one, drew one, and lost one, but have the opportunity to pick up their second win of the campaign today against Manchester City.
In a match where everything is on the line, including the bragging rights of the city, stepping up in this fixture will likely set a player in United folklore for the rest of the season and for future years to come.
United’s youth academy sides also recently started their campaigns respectively as they compete with some of the best sides across the country for glory.
One of those teams is Manchester United’s Under-18s side who are competing in the Under-18s Premier League North this season.
After getting their campaign off to a great start over the course of the last three games, beating Everton Under-18s and Middlesbrough Under-18s, the side faced Newcastle United Under-18s yesterday.
Strikes from Edson DeJonge-Seiros and Noah Ajayi in either half won the game for the Red Devils, as reported on the official United website, who are now fourth in the league with a game in hand on Newcastle and Manchester City Under-18s, the top two.
Noah Ajayi recently returned to competitive action after an injury, which had prevented him from playing in United’s opening three games of the season, and a goal against Newcastle could be the springboard that he needs to fly this season.
Having excelled last season for Manchester United’s academy, scoring ten goals in 26 appearances at Under-18 level, the forward has emerged as one of many exciting young talents that could break into the first-team in upcoming years from the academy.
In order to do that, however, performing well this season will be essential. Ajayi’s success against Newcastle United, therefore, is a step in the right direction and the step that can kickstart his season.
