Marcus Rashford will line up for Manchester United against Manchester City for the first time since March 2024 after he was named in the hosts' starting XI by head coach Michael Carrick.
Rashford scored in his last Manchester derby appearance when United were beaten 3-1 at the Etihad two years ago. The United academy product spent last season on loan at Barcelona and spent time with Aston Villa before that after falling out of favour under the Red Devils' former head coach Ruben Amorim.
There was no place in the United squad for left-back Luke Shaw who has failed to recover from injury in time after missing the team's midweek Champions League win over Sabah FK. Benjamin Sesko was named on the United bench.
Diogo Dalot and Harry Maguire have come back in for Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro who both started on Thursday.

Meanwhile, new City recruit Elliot Anderson is making his first appearance in the fixture following his £116 million move from Nottingham Forest this summer.
His inclusion means there is no place for youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi who impressed on his full City debut against Porto on Tuesday.
Enzo Maresca, who is taking charge of his first Manchester derby after replacing Pep Guardiola, has selected Rayan Cherki, Antoine Semenyo and Phil Foden to support Erling Haaland.
