Manchester United will be looking to rectify their recent domestic woes as they prepare to take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.
Across the Premier League this season, United have won just one of their opening four league games, coming in a 5-2 win over Ipswich Town. A late draw against Everton and losses against Hull City and Man City see them sit 13th in the league table with four points.
Last time out in the Carabao Cup, United suffered a horrid penalty shootout loss against League Two's Grimsby Town, and Brighton were the side that knocked them out of last season's FA Cup earlier this year.
Despite beating Sabah FK 4-0 in the Champions League less than a week ago, the mood around Old Trafford is one of worry and doubt, with the upcoming fixture against Brighton therefore becoming one of the highest-stakes matches.
If United are able to get past the Seagulls, that could be a great turning point to build some momentum. But if they were to be knocked out of another cup competition in the opening round and lose back-to-back games at Old Trafford, pressure would start to mount.
Below is a round up of all United's latest injury news ahead of the clash on Wednesday.
Amad
What happened: After playing well in pre-season, Amad has missed all three fixtures in the league so far due to an injury sustained in training.
What's been said: Roundtable reported last month that initial tests showed Amad could be out for up to six weeks.
Possible return date: Saturday, 10 October vs Tottenham Hotspur.
Luke Shaw
What happened: Luke Shaw has not played in United's last two fixtures against Sabah FK and Manchester City, with Patrick Dorgu playing left-back in his place.
What's been said: "Close, very close, just not quite there,” Carrick told Sky Sports in an update before the Man City defeat. "It's very small but unfortunately not for today.”
Possible return date: Wednesday, 16 September vs Brighton (H).

What happened: Matthijs de Ligt suffered a back injury in November 2025 and has not played since. He underwent a back operation toward the end of last season.

Potential return date: Late October.
Manuel Ugarte
What happened: Manuel Ugarte suffered an ACL injury while at the World Cup with Uruguay, and has started his rehabilitation after undergoing surgary.
What's been said: Reports suggested at the time that his injury recovery could last around nine months, although the timeline will depend heavily on how well his rehabilitation goes.
