Number of arrests 'higher than we would typically expect'

A series of arrests were made on derby day relating to Manchester's United's Premier League game with Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed in a statement on Monday that a total of 17 arrests were made.
A breakdown of suspected offences hasn't been released, but the force said arrests were made for assault, public order offences and 'tragedy chanting'.
Facial recognition technology was also in use in and around Old Trafford stadium on the day, police said. The force said a 'wanted individual' suspected of domestic abuse offences was arrested and taken into custody, although no further details were revealed.
GMP bosses said arrests numbers were 'higher than we would typically expect', but said the total figure reflected a 'proactive approach'.
United fan group The 1958 organised a protest staged outside the ground before kick-off after the club's controversial operation to tackle ticket touting.
Police initially estimated that approximately 500 fans had gathered at the Bishop Blaize pub for the demonstration, but more supporters joined as the protest moved down Sir Matt Busby Way towards the ground.

A breakdown of where arrests were made hasn't been revealed.
In a statement, GMP said: "Tens of thousands of fans travelled to Manchester to watch one of the biggest fixtures in the football calendar. In total, 17 arrests were made across the day for a range of offences, including assault, public order offences and tragedy chanting.
"Officers utilised Live Facial Recognition technology, which identified one individual who was wanted for domestic abuse offences and subsequently arrested and taken into custody."
Chief Inspector Gareth Firth, from our Specialist Operations Unit, said: "The match was particularly busy this year as we dealt with a planned protest before kick-off.
"Working alongside staff from Manchester United, officers acted quickly to identify and deal with incidents before they escalated.
"While arrest numbers were higher than we would typically expect for this fixture, this reflects the proactive approach taken by officers throughout the operation to prevent disorder and keep people safe.
"We would like to thank the overwhelming majority of supporters who attended the match, enjoyed the occasion responsibly and helped ensure the event passed safely."
City won the game 1-0.
