**_Sky Sports_ pundit Gary Neville thinks Manchester City can be contenders for the Premier League title IF they steer clear of injuries.**
Speaking after [**Enzo Maresca**](https://mancitynews.com/man-city-injury-news-nico-oreilly-fans/)‘s side defeated archrivals United with ten men at the weekend, Neville was asked about their title credentials, and he replied:
“If they don’t pick up injuries, Manchester City can give Arsenal a real run. I still think Arsenal are better, but City have improved enormously with the signings they made at the end of the window.”
“That today was big for Maresca, to establish a big-game mentality.”

Despite the controversy around the winning goal, nobody watching the match on Sunday could argue that Maresca’s men didn’t deserve all three points.
As Maresca correctly pointed out after the match, Phil Foden’s red card actually helped his team. United thrive when playing on the counterattack, and they had little space to run into as City became more compact and harder to play through.
With Elliot Anderson and Enzo Fernandez in midfield, the Cityzens had the players to keep control of proceedings, while they had the likes of Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo to pounce on the break.

City’s victory at Old Trafford has led to betting firms shortening their odds. Maresca’s team are currently priced between 15/8 and 9/4.
Chelsea and Liverpool have seen their odds lengthen considerably after home draws at the weekend. Even though we are just four games into the new season, bookies believe it is already a two-horse race for 1st place.
