Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has delivered the team news ahead of the Carabao Cup clash tomorrow.
Man United will host Brighton & Hove Albion in the third round of the domestic competition.
Carrick has confirmed that Luke Shaw could be available for the encounter.
He said in the pre-match press conference: “Luke could [be available]. He could possibly be fit for Brighton but we’ll see. It’s not clear cut but it’s a matter of a few days rather than anything else.”
The 45-year-old also revealed that Carlos Baleba, Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt will all miss the clash.
He said: “Amad is not quite close, in terms of days, you know.
“We’ll see as the week progresses but Matta [De Ligt] is just working his way back really. So I don’t want to, because of the timeframe on it, and how it’s been, I don’t want to really put too much of a timeframe on it.”
Manuel Ugarte remains a long-term absentee after undergoing surgery following a devastating knee injury suffered during the FIFA World Cup.
There is encouraging news regarding Shaw, but we believe he may still be left out of the starting XI.
United will travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Sunday.
Carrick would ideally want his senior left-back fully fit for the Premier League encounter, especially with United having collected just four points from their opening four games.
Shaw could be handed a cameo from the bench to help him regain match fitness without taking unnecessary risks.
Patrick Dorgu, Harry Amass and Noussair Mazraoui are the three players who could step in at left-back tomorrow.
Dorgu started against Sabah FK and Manchester City but was repeatedly caught out of position.
De Ligt last featured in November and is still recovering from his back injury.
Diallo suffered a setback just before the Premier League curtain-raiser against Hull City. The Red Devils will hope that the Ivorian can return after the October international break.
