The VAR officials who incorrectly allowed Erling Haaland's goal in the Manchester derby to stand have been dropped until after the international break. Haaland's strike, which proved to be the winner, should have been ruled out because Enzo Fernandez was clearly offside and attempted to play the ball, impacting the decision-making of Manchester United duo Senne Lammens and Lisandro Martinez.
Pro Ref, formerly PGMOL, issued an apology to United after the final whistle and admitted that VAR allowed the goal to stand "in error". Earlier this week, it was reported that VAR official Matt Donohue and his assistant Blake Antrobus were stood down from their Premier League duties ahead of this weekend's round of fixtures.
Now, referee chief Howard Webb has confirmed that both officials will be sidelined until after the international break, which will last for three weeks.
Webb said that Donohue and Antrobus are "obviously hurting now, having fallen short in this situation. They'll not be officiating again until after the international break".
