JJ Gabriel and his entourage have burnt bridges at Manchester United this week, but Michael Carrick and Ineos can make a statement with the debut of another wonderkid this week.
The career of JJ Gabriel at Manchester United now looks to be effectively over. This is despite United’s plans to debut Gabriel this week in the Carabao Cup against Brighton, which makes the timing of the demand to leave all the more confusing.
Gabriel’s complaints have been directed at first-team opportunities, or a lack of, under Michael Carrick which included limited pre-season minutes and also a failure to use the 15-year-old so far this season. United are rightly confused by his exit request given he was about to make history. So to send a powerful statement, United should consider another debutant against Brighton.

Jaice Dore should be lined up for fast-track debut by Manchester United
While a blow because of the player he is on the pitch, Gabriel’s entourage and demands are a huge red-flag, which no club would accept or cave in to. So instead of allowing Gabriel’s family to treat the club negatively, United should forget about the teenager and move on. Move on to Jaice Dore.
Dore is another 15-year-old talent in the ranks at Manchester United and is in many ways seen to be the next Gabriel, given his incredible talent, record in the youth ranks and seen as one of the best in the nation for his age.
In addition to this, Dore signed with Nike, similar to Gabriel and this reflects how Dore is viewed in the industry. Nike don’t offer out contracts to every youngster. Dore has been tearing up every level he has played in for United and this season will probably see him debut for the U18s and is sure to take the league by storm.
It would be a hugely bold to debut Dore before he even makes his way into the U18s, but in terms of talents at the club right now he is the next to reach that level and be considered the next Gabriel, the next Shea Lacey, the next Kobbie Mainoo.

Dore has impressed scouts recently where he won the MVP award at a tournament in the USA and if United really want to make a point, he should absolutely be fast-tracked through and given the Gabriel treatment in terms of first-team exposure.
United might not get the chance to do right by Gabriel or see the fruits of the labour to make him such a big talent. But the club can make sure the same doesn’t happen with Dore by giving him ample opportunities.
In addition, there are no stories around Dore having toxic figures around him like Gabriel does. Invest in the good characters who have good people around them, United got it wrong with Alejandro Garnacho and now Gabriel looks to be heading the same way with an overstepping family member who clearly doesn’t have the good of the players career in mind.
Dore is next up, hopefully United make an effort to push him through the ranks quickly. Brighton might be too soon in all honesty, but it would have also been too soon for Gabriel.
