Journalist Claims Man Utd Wonderkid Was Given “Opportunity To Sign” For Man City As He Demands Free Transfer

Man City are one of several teams keeping close tabs on the situation of Man Utd winger JJ Gabriel, according to reports.
The teenager is demanding that his contract with the Red Devils be ripped up as he seeks to become a free agent, and journalist Laurie Whitwell claims that the Cityzens would likely be among his suitors.
Writing for The Athletic, Whitwell said that Gabriel “had the opportunity to sign for Manchester City last summer” before opting to remain at Old Trafford after being given certain guarantees about first-team football.
However, his situation has changed dramatically, with Michael Carrick’s decision to barely play the teenager in pre-season, as well as omitting him from matchday squads at the beginning of this campaign, playing a part in the player wanting to leave.
Man City will have competition for the player
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are said to be among the other clubs hopeful of securing Gabriel’s signature.
The 15-year-old is seen as one of the best players in his age group, so demand for his services will be extremely high if he does end up leaving Old Trafford over the coming weeks and months.

Gabriel could still stay at Man Utd
It is important to point out that the youngster’s current club still have a final say on his future. Even though he hasn’t signed a professional contract, and he has handed them a letter of de-registration, ALL parties have to agree to the termination.
At the moment, the Red Devils believe they can still change Gabriel’s mind and give him more assurances about his future. He was set to be included in the squad for the game against Brighton in the Carabao Cup, but that is now unlikely to happen following this turn of events.
