Manchester United attacker JJ Gabriel has not been seen at the Red Devils’ training complex since last Thursday, according to The Athletic.
The Man United academy graduate has told the Old Trafford club to cancel his registration as he wants to leave.
Gabriel bagged a hat-trick for the Red Devils’ under-19s in the UEFA Youth League last Thursday, and it seems he has played his last game for them.
As things stand there is no expectation of a return, but Man United are desperate to hold on to him.
The 15-year-old communicated his intention formally to the club on Monday via a letter requesting de-registration.
Real Madrid are favourites to sign Gabriel if he leaves the Red Devils.
The likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also keen on recruiting his services.
It is believed a lack of plenty chances with the first-team during pre-season played a key role in his decision to request to leave.
He featured just once – for eight minutes as a substitute at centre-forward against Atletico Madrid – and there had been indications an issue was brewing last Thursday.
It appeared that Gabriel had been expected to be named in the senior matchday to face Sabah FK.
However, he was selected to play for United’s under-19s instead.
