The father of Alexis Mac Allister has played down talk the Liverpool midfielder is seeking to leave over a lack of progress on a new Anfield contract.
And Carlos Mac Allister also insists it is the club's right to choose when they want to begin discussions over fresh terms following a public admission of disappointment from the Reds star last week.
Dominik Szoboszlai and [Ryan Gravenberch,](http://Ryan Gravenberch) who signed the same summer as Mac Allister in 2023, were both rewarded with contract improvements earlier this year, which was a factor in the former Brighton man's response in a pre-match press conference last Tuesday.
Speaking before last week's 2-1 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid, Mac Allister, whose deal runs until 2028, opened up on his current contract status, admitting he was "very, very sad" that he was yet to be offered a new deal.
However, in an interview with 365 Scores, his dad, himself a former Argentina international, played down the issue but admitted Liverpool have yet to broach the subject following the comments last week.
"No-one from Liverpool's management has contacted us to renew his contract yet," Mac Allister snr said.
"We have a contract that is valid and we are committed to it with Liverpool, and if the club does not offer to renew the contract, it is their right.
"For now, Alexis has to give his best for the club in every game over the weekend.
"Alexis is not disappointed. This is a decision that the club makes, and we don't judge their decisions, we just prepare for what's to come."
Liverpool man Mac Allister also explained last week that he had offers on the table to leave Anfield, saying: "There was a chance [to leave], of course."
Speculation over potential interest from Real Madrid has now been rubbished, however, with Mac Allister's father adding: "No-one from Real Madrid has contacted us at any point in the entire career of Alexis."
The in-form Mac Allister has scored two in his last two starts in Andoni Iraola's midfield and is in line to feature when the unbeaten Reds are hosted by Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
