It almost seems a bit disrespectful to call Jason Steele a No 2.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper was excellent last night as Brighton fought back from 2-0 down to beat Manchester 3-2 at Old Trafford and advance to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

It’s the first time United have lost after being 2-0 up since 1976.
It was Steele's first start of the season as he mostly plays second fiddle to Brighton's regular No 1 and Dutch international Bart Verbruggen.
The former Sunderland stopper was not really at fault for United's early goals through Shea Lacey and Mason Mount but his big moment arrived in the closing stages.
Steele thwarts Rashford
Brighton had battled back to take the lead thanks to efforts from Charalampos Kostoulas, Pascal Gross and Maxim De Cuyper, when Marcus Rashford was clean through on goal.
Steele - who was the England training goalkeeper at last summer’s World Cup and received a third placed medal - stood firm against his England colleague and his extended right leg prevented Rashford's effort from finding the bottom corner. It was a decisive moment of the match.
The Brighton stopper looked quite emotional in his post match interview with ITV. Steele doesn't play often and when he does it's clear how much each performance means to him.
Steele back on the bench
But the harsh reality of life as a No 2 is that he will - almost certainly - be back on the bench as Brighton welcome Premier League champions and current leaders Arsenal to the Amex Stadium this Saturday.
Verbruggen, who gave a man of the match display in Brighton's 5-0 win at Coventry, is head coach Fabian Hurzeler's trusted No 1 and is sure to be back between the sticks to face the Gunners.
What is clear though is that Brighton have two goalkeepers capable of performing at the highest. The Seagulls allowed Carl Rushworth to join Coventry last summer for £25m safe in the knowledge that Verbruggen and Steele were there.
If there were any lingering doubts on that decision, the performances from Verbruggen at Coventry and Steele at Manchester United should put those to bed.
Brighton do have a buy-back clause with Rushworth but they seemed to be more than covered for the time-being at least.
