Jason Cundy believes Manchester United should already cut their loses with Michael Carrick and get Unai Emery from Aston Villa. The former Chelsea player insists they should have the conversation now rather than waiting until Christmas.
United have now lost half of their first six matches this season after losing to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup third round. They were beaten 3-2 after being 2-0 up for the first time at Old Trafford in half a century.
Carrick is now under increasing pressure before the upcoming international break. Cundy now says that it is time to act.
Speaking on talkSPORT after Wednesday night's match, The Sports Bar co-host said: "Unai Emery, go and get him, get him out of Villa."
Cundy continued: "That's what I'd do. If I were Sir Jim Ratcliffe, I'd now cut my losses and go and get Unai. Don't wait until Christmas to have the conversation, do it now."
His co-host, Jamie O'Hara, however, questioned why the former Arsenal head coach Emery would want to join United if they replace Carrick. He said: "I don't know if Unai Emery wants to be Man United manager. Why would he want to go in there?"

The former Tottenham Hotspur player reiterated: "Unai Emery isn't going to leave Villa now anyway, he isn't leaving Villa." Directly addressing Cundy, O'Hara claimed: "You just said they're (United) skint. They've got to sack Carrick, then you've got to buy Unai Emery out of Villa, and then you've got to pay him £10-15million. You just said they've got no money."
He explained: "You can't keep changing your manager. You're (United) the same as Tottenham.
"You've got a problem, you've got a mentality problem. It isn't the manager, it doesn't matter who you bring in; you still have the same problems."
Speaking after Brighton beat United in the cup, Carrick acknowledged the pressure that he is under while claiming not to be bothered by it. He said at Old Trafford: "I don't feel under pressure.
"Either way, that doesn't bother me one bit. It genuinely doesn't bother me one bit. I understand what goes on outside and how the world works, but genuinely, it doesn't bother me.
"What bothers me is winning games and having a good feeling around the place and a good feeling around the group to know we're moving in a good direction, that's ultimately what bothers me."
