Man Utd Injury News And Return Dates: Updates On Luke Shaw, Amad & 4 Others

Man Utd head coach Michael Carrick has suggested that Luke Shaw is close to returning to full fitness.
A muscular injury has forced the defender to miss the last two games against Sabah and Manchester City. When asked about the left-back’s fitness in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup tie against Brighton, Carrick said:
“Luke could [be available]. He could possibly be fit for Brighton, but we’ll see. It’s not clear-cut, but it’s a matter of a few days rather than anything else.”
Those remarks suggest that Shaw’s comeback is likelier to come against Fulham at Craven Cottage this weekend.

Amad
Carrick has all but confirmed that Amad won’t be available for selection before the international break due to an ankle injury:
“Amad is not quite close, in terms of days, you know. We’ll see as the week progresses.”

Carlos Baleba
The summer signing is expected to begin full training soon after fully recovering from an ankle injury, but Carrick has said that his debut will have to wait until next month:
“He’ll be back in and around the group at some point over the next week or so. So that means, after the internationals, he should be in good shape.”

Matthijs de Ligt
The Netherlands international is still not ready to feature in first-team games, with Carrick refusing to give an estimate on when he will make his comeback after back surgery:
“Matta is just working his way back, really. So I don’t want to, because of how it’s been, put too much of a timeframe on it.”

Tom Heaton
The keeper has not been part of a matchday squad since the new season began, after sustaining an injury in a friendly against Atletico Madrid.
Heaton picked up a suspected hamstring issue, and it seems to have been a grade 3 tear.

The Uruguayan underwent surgery after sustaining a serious knee injury in the World Cup group game against Spain in late June.
Ugarte is not expected to play again this calendar year, with his comeback pencilled in for 2027.
