Manchester United are set to play their final fixture before the international break this Sunday, facing off against Fulham.
Michael Carrick’s side have not got their season off to the greatest of starts, having only won two of their opening six games across all competitions whilst losing the Manchester derby last weekend.
That defeat, alongside results against Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Everton, sees the Red Devils 13th in the Premier League table with just four points.
Sunday’s fixture offers a chance for United to move into the top half of the table with a victory, although defeat could pile further pressure on Carrick ahead of crucial Champions League and Premier League fixtures after the international break.
Carrick is not the only manager at Manchester United who has not got their side off to a great start to the season with Manchester United Women manager Eva Olid also struggling to adapt to life at the club.
Olid’s side are set to face Arsenal this weekend, aiming for their first win of the season against defeats to London City Lionesses and Chelsea.
Ahead of the weekend, the former Hearts Women boss has provided an update on her squad with her confirming that Jayde Riviere and Emma Watson will miss this weekend’s game through injury.
Speaking to United’s media about the duo, Olid said: “No [there are no injury updates], it’s the same as last week. The same update.”
The update, provided before last Sunday’s defeat to Chelsea, confirmed that Jayde Riviere and Emma Watson would not feature.
In this update, meanwhile, there was no update on Andrea Medina, who started last weekend’s fixture before being substituted in the 56th minute after a heavy collision.
For Olid, news that she will definitely be without two players due to injury further narrows the amount of players she has to choose from.
With Anna Sandberg coming in to fill for Medina last weekend, Eva Olid could once again turn to the Swedish international should Medina be unavailable.
Younger players such as Jess Simpson, Jessica Anderson, and Mared Griffiths could also be named in the squad for tomorrow’s match to compensate for the absences.
With under 24 hours until matchday, Olid will now hope she has enough options available to finally kickstart United Women’s season.
