Manchester United academy have received another boost from the international setup, with five players selected for England Under-20s duty.
Head coach Darren Moore named his latest squad on Friday, with the young Three Lions preparing for three Euro Elite League fixtures against Italy, France and Germany.
Manchester United are strongly represented across the squad, with players selected in defence, midfield and attack.
Harry Amass and Ayden Heaven have both earned places among the defenders. Amass recently made an appearance from the bench during United’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Sabah, while Heaven featured in the Carabao Cup defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Five United youngsters receive England call-ups
The midfield selections include Jack Fletcher and Jim Thwaites, allowing the pair to step up on the international stage.
Shea Lacey completes the United contingent and has been included among the forwards after making headlines for his boyhood club. Lacey scored on his first senior start for United in the 3-2 defeat to Brighton.
There is also a mix of experience within the group. Amass, Fletcher and Thwaites are yet to make their England Under-20 debuts, while Heaven and Lacey have previously represented the side.
Both Heaven and Lacey have already found the net at this level, giving them some experience to take into the upcoming fixtures.
For United, having five players involved in the England Under-20 squad amid scrutiny over its academy in recent days, with JJ Gabriel asking for an exit, will be key. Meanwhile, the upcoming matches against Italy, France and Germany will provide another opportunity for the youngsters to gain valuable international experience.
