Michael Carrick was asked whether he felt he was under pressure after Manchester United's woeful Carabao Cup capitulation, and while his work is certainly under the spotlight at the moment, there is no sense at Old Trafford that a change is imminent.
United have lost three of their first six games this season and throwing away a 2-0 lead to Brighton on Wednesday put Carrick's future on the agenda, but there is a view that the issues go far beyond the head coach right now.
Carrick retains the backing of chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox, and it should be noted they only reluctantly dismissed Ruben Amorim after his New Year meltdown. Carrick has more credit in the bank than Amorim ever did.
