Manchester United are set to face Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Sunday.
Manager Michael Carrick will be desperate to return to winning ways after suffering consecutive defeats for the first time since taking over the reins at Old Trafford.
Carrick will once again look towards his talisman, Bruno Fernandes, to produce the spark his side desperately needs.
Fernandes has a terrific record under the 45-year-old.
The Portuguese midfielder has registered nine goals and 15 assists in just 26 appearances across all competitions under Carrick.
Fernandes has gone without a goal contribution in two consecutive games on only two occasions during this period.
The 31-year-old failed to score or assist in consecutive games against West Ham United and Everton in February, despite United drawing 1-1 against West Ham before beating Everton 1-0.
With pressure mounting on the Red Devils, Fernandes responded in trademark fashion, scoring and assisting as United secured a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
In June, Fernandes again drew a blank against Liverpool despite United claiming a 3-2 victory, before also failing to register a goal contribution in the 0-0 draw against Sunderland.
He soon responded against Nottingham Forest, producing a historic 20th assist to match the prestigious record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
The club captain has once again failed to make a decisive impact in United’s last two league games, and he will be determined to put that right at Craven Cottage.
Fernandes has already shown his goalscoring threat this season, having smashed a stunning hat-trick against Ipswich Town.
He will now be eager to add more goals and assists to his tally and inspire United to an important victory.
A win this weekend could propel the Red Devils up to eighth in the Premier League table, although their final position will depend on results elsewhere.
