Michael Carrick is already facing pressure at Manchester United after a disappointing opening to the Premier League season, according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness.
Carrick’s side have won just one of their first four league matches, despite facing Hull City and Ipswich during that run. Keith Wyness believes the next few weeks could become increasingly important for the 45-year-old.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, Wyness singled out the November international break as a potential turning point for Carrick’s position.

“Well, this next couple of games are important for them, and I think after the November international break they’re going to have to start looking at that,” Wyness said.
“Now the trouble is, the only thing that can solve things is goals and points. That’s what’s got to happen, or the pressure will build.”
With matches temporarily paused, speculation surrounding managers and players can quickly dominate the conversation.
“In international breaks as well, that’s when the football vacuum is filled with stories from behind the scenes, which can put even more pressure on because there are no games to talk about.”
He warned that Carrick needs to establish some momentum before the next international break.
“So I think the second break, he’d better get something going by that time or else the pressure will really start to build.”
United have nine games to play before that break, including fixtures against Tottenham, Chelsea, Leeds and Aston Villa, as well as the start of their Champions League campaign.
Wyness believes the situation could eventually lead to another managerial change if results do not improve.
“You’d possibly be looking at the start of the new year for them giving in once again and making a change.”
