Man City Make ‘Contact’ With Agents Of £60M Rated Playmaker As They Enter Race With United & Arsenal

Man City are in “contact” with the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza, according to reports in Germany.
Fussball-news-de claim that both Enzo Maresca’s side and Atletico Madrid have asked the playmaker’s agent to be kept informed of developments if he does decide to leave the BayArena in the future.
It is believed that Manchester United and Arsenal are also keeping close tabs on Maza, who has impressed since moving to Leverkusen last year.
The German-born Algerian international has made 48 appearances since his €12m switch from Hertha Berlin, having scored 6 goals and contributed 9 assists.
Leverkusen won’t sell Maza on the cheap
The Bundesliga side are said to have slapped an asking price of between €65m (£56m) and €70m (£60m) on the 20-year-old.
Maza is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in European football, so Leverkusen have no intention of letting him leave for a modest fee.

Man City are not short of options in midfield
Maza can be deployed as a winger, but he is most comfortable playing as a no.10, and head coach Enzo Maresca already has the likes of Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden to fill that position.
The Citizens have also invested heavily in the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi during the summer transfer window, so it seems unlikely that they would splash out a sizeable sum on a player like Maza, unless they fully believe that he is an upgrade on the club’s current options.
