With a three-week international break to come after this game, Michael Carrick knows he really cannot afford to see his side slip up at Craven Cottage. United have won just two of their opening six games in all competitions, losing to Brighton and Manchester City in their previous two outings.
Carrick insisted on Friday that any talk about his future was 'ridiculous', but a defeat today would really see the pressure ramp up.
The United boss also said at his pre-match press conference that Luke Shaw and Carlos Baleba could play a part in today's match and both have travelled to London, as has Matthijs de Ligt. However, Benjamin Sesko was not spotted catching the train down to the capital.
