**Arsenal have been keeping close tabs on Borussia Dortmund forward Maximilian Beier, according to reports.**
[_TEAMtalk_](https://www.teamtalk.com/arsenal/scouts-wowed-dortmund-forward-maximilian-beier-future-swoop) claim that Gunners scouts have been looking at potential alternatives to Julian Alvarez, and the German international is seen as an “ideal fit” for the Premier League.
Beier is a striker, but he can also play as a No.10 or out wide, and that positional flexibility is said to have especially attracted the Premier League champions.
At 23 years of age, the forward is several years younger than Alvarez too, and he is unlikely to cost as much as the Argentinian either.
Beier has just scored his first goal of the season
--------------------------------------------------
The German had already provided 3 assists in his first 6 games for Dortmund this campaign, but he hadn’t managed to get on the scoresheet until the weekend.
Beier did find the net away from home against Stuttgart on Saturday, and the goal was a very important one as well. His strike in the 70th minute proved to be the winner, and the result ensured that Dortmund will sit top of the Bundesliga table heading into the international break; two points ahead of reigning champions Bayern Munich.
Arsenal could have competition for the player
---------------------------------------------
_TEAMtalk_ report that other Premier League clubs are tracking Beier, with Manchester United and Tottenham also monitoring the forward’s progress.
Of course, the Gunners would probably be seen as the most attractive destination by the player, not only because of their position in the table, but due to there being an obvious position for him to fill.
Mikel Arteta’s side did not replace Gabriel Martinelli following his departure for Al-Hilal, and Beier would feel that he would stand a good chance of getting minutes ahead of Christos Tzolis on the left wing.
The Greek international has impressed in some games, but he lacks consistency, and he needs more competition for his place in the first eleven. The likes of Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi and Brentford’s Kevin Schade have also been [**mentioned**](https://goonernews.com/blog/arsenal-transfer-news-kevin-schade-junior-kroupi/) as potential targets to reinforce that area of the pitch.
