Matheus Cunha didn’t hide his frustration after Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Manchester United took the lead in the first half of the game but couldn’t find the breakthrough, while Fulham responded after the interval. Matheus Cunha admitted the result was difficult to accept, especially after United’s plans had initially created opportunities.
“It is so frustrating for us. In the beginning, we put the plan in and created some chances. We didn’t score and then they scored in one action. It is hard to explain,” Cunha said to Sky Sports.
The Brazilian felt United only showed their best level after falling behind.

“It is frustrating for us. After the goal, we played much better and had a lot of character. It needs to be from the start.”
Cunha was particularly unhappy that United couldn’t turn their improved second-half performance into three points. For him, settling for a draw cannot become an acceptable mindset.
“It is only one point but we should never play for one point.”
The forward also questioned United’s energy levels, admitting Fulham appeared to want the contest more during important spells.
“It is hard. They put in more energy than us, we cannot accept this.”
Cunha believes the answer has to come from the entire squad rather than one area of the team.
“We need to do our best. We need to improve in every single position.”
Despite the frustration, he insisted it was still early in the campaign and pointed to last season as an example of how much can change.
“It is only the beginning. Last season was the same, with noise around, but we finished third.”
